I attended a Conservative coffee morning in Buckingham this morning. These coffee mornings are held on the first Saturday of each month to raise funds for the party.
It is not usual for people of my age to attend/enjoy this sort of thing, but I love talking to people and find it very enjoyable indeed. Talking with like-minded people is, I admit, easier than talking to political opponents, but there are always interesting and novel viewpoints and lots of conversation is on non-political matters.
I learnt that all the people I spoke to (scientific sample, you can tell) agreed with the idea of an English Parliament with no sell whatsoever. This sort of attitude would not have been found a few years ago and I think we can safely lay the blame for that at the door of the Scottish Nationalists and devolution. Of course, when I say “blame” I do not mean that negatively!
