Update: Please see the Conservative Group’s response in a later post for a balance of this article: click here.
I wrote to Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council’s Councillors this morning – 71 of them (one doesn’t use e-mail) in response to the Telegraph article on 4 October (click here).
Within twenty minutes I had received a reply from a Councillor David Blood (Conservative) and I am pleased to include his reply below:
“I was extremely disappointed that an Officer of the Council carried out the wishes of an employee on such a delicate issue without first consulting The Leader of the Council, Cllr David Caunt.”
At 6.29 this morning Cllr. Rebirtha Hart asked that I refer to the letter she wrote to the Dudley News. This led me to find this article which adds the Liberal Democrat Councillors firmly to the left column.
At 8.13 this morning Cllr. Mahbubur Rahman replied denying that the Council has a
“policy to ban any toy pigs”
There was no explanation so I shall leave him in the ‘Majority Oppression’ column.
I have decided, therefore, to include a table below of the results of this e-mail:
| Councillors who… | |
|---|---|
| Have common-sense | Believe in majority oppression |
| Cllr. David Blood | Cllr. Mahbubur Rahman |
| Cllr. Kenneth Turner | |
| Cllr. Malcolm Davis | |
| Cllr. Rebirtha Hart (For the Liberal Democrat Group) |
|
| Cllr. Les Jones (For the Conservative Group) |
|
| Cllr. Angus Adams | |
| 40 Conservatives, 6 Liberal Democrats, 1 UKIP | 1 Labour |
| The Labour Party Councillors are the only ones from whom a response is now expected | |

OK one person made so much trouble. How was this allowed to happen? Christ I bet they didn’t have much choice with the amount of form filling bureaucracy these days.
