The Iraq Civil War has been costing a fortune. The estimated cost for the US’ involvement so far is over $300bn ($300,000,000,000) . That’s easily enough to send a mission to Mars.

Now the UK government has decided to add to our fiscal burden by paying to rebuild a prison that was damaged when the local police kidnapped (and would not follow their own government’s instructions to release) British service personnel (BBC News). When will the government learn how to spend your tax in the way you (and I) would want?
