I have just spoken to Gav and I want to make it clear on his behalf that when he said “non-British origin” he meant, those without a British passport — not those who’s origin is not Britain.
At the time of writing, Conservatives have gained 250 Councillors and Labour have lost 254 Councillors. Aside from movements among the minor parties and, obviously, some local politics, the Conservatives have clearly taken advantage of Labour’s weakness.
In previous elections since 1997, Conservatives have made gains, but the Liberal Democrats and UKIP have made most of the running (consider the last EU Parliament elections).
Whatever you say about Cameron and whether these elections are about local issues, the Conservative party is doing what it should be, in a real way, for the first time.
