I installed Windows Vista Beta 2 last night and, at last, made it work (my floppy drive wasn’t working and I hadn’t noticed — and that was where the SATA driver was!).
My first impressions are good, although the continual checking that you wish applications to run may get annoying. But the Control Panel and My Computer windows are improved beyond recognition.
I look forward to telling you more later on.

I take it this would be the 32 bit version?
I did try 64 bit briefly, but couldn’t get drivers working for my current adsl modem so gave it up.

32bit, yes.
Replace your modem with a router and then you can stop worrying!
My only problem is the TV card.

I gave the Vista beta a whirl, but was rather unimpressed. Yes it looked all fluffy/cool with “Aero” but it just didn’t seem particularly… well… worthwhile. I think I shall be sticking with XP until I can summon the energy to find a nice Linux distro and get it just how I like it… (at the current rate of progress I suspect this may not be for quite a while!)

Things I’ve been particularly impressed by:
1. Yes, Aero
2. Search
3. The new folder views
4. Windows Media Center
5. The speed of the new Start Menu
6. Windows Defender’s applications that start at start-up
7. Control Panel
