I have long argued for the removal of the Human Rights Act and its replacement with something that safeguards against Blair’s unreasonable policies at the same time as rebalancing the justice system in favour of the law-abiding…
Once more Cameron delivers.

Finally someone is prepared to grasp the issue firmly and suggest an alternative to the failed Human Rights act.
DC does make me wonder whether he’s for Europe or against it on a regular basis.
We’ll see how long it is before Bliar makes his own spin on it.

DC is definitely, definitely against the EU in the same way I am — it won’t work in its current format and, if we’re honest, there’s little point remaining in it.
DC is having trouble with the EPP because he’s asked his MEPs to break their manifesto pledges, but his intention is real and honest.

Hi Gav - finally got to your site having seen links to it everywhere.
Regarding EPP. I hope you are right. I feel the issue was being kicked into the long grass until Tim raised the possibility of the issue being deferred on ConservativeHome.
I suspect the only reason it is back on the agenda is the outcry on CH website and also the 3,500 phone calls and emails that flooded into CCHQ on the day the news broke.
However, leaving the EPP is only the start. Unless it is accompanied by a real and lasting change in our attitude to the EU it will be meaningless. The people of Britain don’t give a monkey’s hoot about where we sit in the parliament of fools. It is what we SAY and what we DO that matters. And sadly, until Conservative MEP’s start speaking out as loudly and clearly as Farage we shall continue to fail to capitalise on the overwhelming anti federalist majority in the UK.
I am not sure if you have seen this link:

Like him or not - the man speaks sense and does so in a powerful way.

sounds good, but from what I heard the EU Human Rights act will override our national Bill if they want to.
Is that not true?

It’s not the EU Human Rights Act, but the European Convention on Human Rights that is under immediate discussion surrounding this intiative…

And that’s not going to be very bloody likely as long as British politicians see it as a job continuation programme, but without the voters.
I think there’s lots of good talk about, but I don’t think they mean it. Who knows, maybe Cameron can draw it out for another 10 years, like Blair did?
