It made it to the news but, typically, the Scottish Raj wasn’t mentioned again.
Alistair Darling, MP for a Scottish Constituency, today said that there was “no demand” for longer opening hours on Sundays. And yet all the while, Alistair Darling’s home country (which has devolution) has no Sunday-trading restrictions. Now, I know it is a topic about which people get heated, but let’s all concentrate on the fact that an MP with executive powers can make this decision even though, through a fault of the constitution since Labour’s 1998 meddling, none of his constituents will be effected in any way.
Worse still, the Conservative Party’s preferred ’solution’ of English Votes on English Matters fails entirely to deal with this!

I bought a new power supply which was delivered by Overclockers.co.uk promptly.
Overclockers are much like Dabs — great at delivering your goods that you order trouble-free, but awful at replying to e-mails with anything better than a barely disguised hurrumph.
Anyway, the power supply was the cause of my previously dead PC and it most certainly was the cause. Even better news, the hard disks were in tact and data safely sitting there for my return. Vista (AJD) is blameless!
It’s even given me yet another failed opportunity to tidy all the cables…
Well, the PC has been resurrected and normal service can resume! Now I’ll just chase PC Specialist (the original sellers of my PC) to acknowledge that they have an EC Directive-ordained obligation to repair my PC even though is was 370 days old at the time of failure — let’s keep it a secret that I could not be bothered to wait for their lawyers to check that they were liable.
What EC Directive’s that, I hear you ask, this one.

Despite his usual blundering non-English, JP came across really well on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme this morning.
Without sounding like a whining politician he managed to make a good case for the idea that he is being made the victim of a witch hunt.
So, in the last few days, I have found myself supporting Germany (twice), France and now John Prescott… Tomorrow Hitler Blair?
Cameron needs to come out with something before I lose all grasp on reality!
