Impact of closure

What would happen to the Ambulance service if Worthing’s Accident and Emergency were to close? Presumably the number of people needing an ambulance to get their broken arm repaired will be larger.

So, using that common sense you either have or don’t, my MP, Tim Loughton asked the question:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many ambulances are employed by the Sussex Ambulance Service; and what projections she has made about the number of ambulances which will be required if Worthing hospital Accident and Emergency Department were to close.

The answer, of course, was very interesting indeed.

Her Majesty’s esteemed government has no bloomin’ clue what the impact will be of their mismanagement of the NHS and they really don’t care.

Remember, KWASH is a non-party political campaign supported by the local Conservatives, LibDems and Labour Party.

My opinion

(and not that of KWASH or the Conservatives necessarily):

Make the NHS a safety net like income support. Positively encourage private investment in hospitals and reduce taxes by an amount similar to NHS spending so that we can all buy ourselves private treatment.
