I have been infuriated by debates with people since the 2001 election (when Blair stopped pretending that he didn’t believe in wasting tax-payers’ money) who say “But if you cut taxes that must mean a cut in front-line services”.

But if that’s the case, why are stories like this so frequently in the headlines?
