Yes send the academic kids to places that can get the best out of them but there needs to be freedom of choice for people with other aptitudes also.

When I was at school I learnt little compared to the number of years I was there, but after school I became a hobbyist programmer, wished I'd paid more attention in my maths lessons and had to do some catch up.
I learnt a lot better because I had something in mind that I wanted to do where-as in school a lot of it 'seemed' too abstract at the time

One of my brothers friends was told he'd never amount to anything by teachers, he is not an academic sort but he works hard on the farm and knows his stuff with regard to that.
We need to get away from this one size fits all education.</description>
